Trump and Newsom CLASH in Explosive California Redistricting Battle — Democrats and Republicans at WAR

The vote on Governor Gavin Newsom’s redistricting proposal has erupted into a full-blown political showdown. As Californians continue to cast their ballots, Donald Trump has already gone on the attack, threatening to sue the state and calling Newsom’s plan a “GIANT SCAM.”

On Truth Social, Trump claimed that “all mail-in ballots, where Republicans are shut out, are under serious criminal review.” Though he offered no evidence, his post sent shockwaves through both parties.

Newsom, however, isn’t backing down. His Proposition 50 seeks to suspend California’s independent redistricting commission — created by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to ensure fairness — and hand the power of drawing congressional maps back to the Democrat-controlled legislature.  If passed, Democrats could gain up to five new seats in Congress.

Trump’s allies call it a “blatant power grab,” while Democrats claim they’re merely “countering Republican manipulation in Texas.”

Tensions rose further when White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed Trump’s claims, insisting “there is real fraud in California,” and accusing officials of mailing “fraudulent ballots to people who shouldn’t even be voting, including illegal immigrants.”

From Hollywood to Washington, the fight has become a brutal power struggle. If Newsom wins, it strengthens his standing for a 2028 presidential run. If he loses, it could cripple his ambitions.

As polls close, California isn’t just deciding new district lines — it may be deciding the political future of America.
